No, BuildYourOwnCurriculum is a framework for you to build your own district's curriculum in.  I provides a simple step by step process to building standards based curriculum.

As a rule, teachers love us!  BuildYourOwnCurriculum focuses on creating a consistent framework of courses, units, topics, and key concepts taught by all teachers so that students benefit from a consistent educational experience regardless of what teacher they are assigned to.  It is extremely important to understand that our focus is on What is taught, How long it is taught for, and Why it is taught.  We do not focus on How something is taught.  It is our belief that the art of teaching is knowing how to communicate a concept to a group of kids.  With BuildYourOwnCurriculum, the teachers focus on this art!

As long as your district has access to the internet you are ready to use us.  BuildYourOwnCurriculum is 100% internet based, meaning you can access or work on your curriculum anywhere you can access the internet.

BuildYourOwnCurriculum is not a traditional curriculum mapping solution.  In most curriculum mapping packages, multiple teachers each create their own curriculum and then, ideally, they merge them into one at a later point.  In creating BuildYourOwnCurriculum, we made a decision to force the educators to talk at the beginning of the process and create one, district wide curriculum.

All of the information stored in BuildYourOwnCurriculum can be exported in an industry standard XML file.  We will work with any vendor you use to help them leverage the information store in our solution.

Actually building curriculum is very easy.  The actual process of learning how to create curriculum takes about 15 minutes.  Typically we schedule 1 1/2 hour training sessions, with at least 1/2 of the session being hands on work by the educators actually building curriculum.
